Pewter Care
MATCH pewter is handmade by artisans in Northern Italy. Each piece is made with a lead free alloy of tin, copper and antimony that is FDA approved and food safe.
Cleaning your pewter
Unlike silver, pewter tarnishes very slowly and requires almost no maintenance.
Should you choose to clean your pewter, hand wash in warm water with a liquid dish soap. Be sure to dry the pewter completely, as water allowed to dry on pewter may cause spots. Any spots that appear can be easily removed by polishing or by gently rubbing the area in small circular motions with very fine "0000" steel wool.
MATCH flatware and dinnerware are dishwasher safe
We recommend cleaning using a liquid dishwasher soap, on the lowest heat setting, for both the washing and drying cycles. Please allow your dinnerware to cool before handling. MATCH ceramic mugs should only be washed by hand.
Please note: If you have hard water (water with a high mineral content) we do not recommend using a dishwasher, as elements in the water may cause tarnishing or pitting of your pewter.
Please do not wash MATCH pewter in the extreme temperatures of a commercial dishwasher.
When washing your dinnerware by hand, please do not pre-soak in hot water.
MATCH stemware and barware should only be washed by hand and should not be pre-soaked in hot water as a prelude to hand washing.

1508 Ceramics Care
The 1508 Collection is safe for use in the microwave, dishwasher, freezer, and oven (up to 450 degrees).
Markings may appear on your ceramics over time, depending on the type of flatware you use. These are superficial marks, or “scuffs”, left by stainless steel on the surface of the glaze. They are not scratches or defects in the glaze. Any marks that appear can be removed using a paste of Bar Keepers Friend, Bon Ami, or similar product. We recommend removing scuff marks as they appear; leaving the markings unaddressed will make them more difficult to remove.
Beeswax Candle Care
For best results, always light candles with the wick trimmed to ¼ inch. The plant fiber wicks in our pillar candles may take longer to light than others. Hold the candle at a slight angle for best results. A little sputtering may occur — this is normal.
To achieve the longest burn time, immediately after extinguishing your candle, gently hug the softened walls of the candle to guide the wax toward the wick. This will allow all of the wax to be consumed instead of melting a tunnel to the bottom of the pillar.
Never blow out the plant fiber wicks of your candle. It is best to use a candle snuffer, or to extinguish it by pushing the wick into the melted wax with a metal tool and then lifting it when the flame is out. This will prevent smoldering and smoke.
A few simple rules of candle safety
- Never ever leave a burning candle unattended.
- Always keep candles away from flammables and combustibles.
- Always keep children away from lighted candles.
- Always place lighted candles on a proper base or holder; never directly on a surface.
Berti Knife Care
Hand wash in warm water using a liquid dish soap. Please dry the knives completely. The blade should never be left to air dry. Wipe knife block clean with a damp cloth — mild detergent can be used if necessary. Do not submerge in water or place under running water.
