The mocktail that stands tall

Join us for the latest installment in our exclusive mixology series. From a tangy shrub (see below for the easy how-to) and dash of citrus bitters to hand-slapped herbs (it’s a thing, really) and fizzing soda finish, the Strawberry Mint Highball is the new star of non-alcoholic indulgence. And 100% proof that MATCH’s handmade pewter is the protagonist of every pour.

Strawberry Mint Highball

  • 1 – 2 parts Strawberry-Mint Shrub (see below)
  • 2 – 3 dashes of Citrus Bitter (we like All The Bitter or Fee Brothers)
  • 4 – 5 parts Soda/Tonic Water/Flavored Water

Combine all the ingredients in a highball glass and gently stir to combine. Add fresh mint and strawberries to the glass before building for added flavor and visual appeal. Garnish with a fresh strawberry and mint top.

Strawberry-Mint Shrub (Any Fruit-Herb Shrub)

  • 2 parts Fresh Fruit (Frozen will also work)
  • 1 part Sugar
  • 1 part Vinegar (Apple cider or champagne, or a mix of the two)
  • ½ cup Fresh Herbs (Loosely packed)

Finely dice the fruit and add to a saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the sugar and vinegar and stir to combine. Gently simmer for 10 minutes over the lowest heat possible. Add the fresh herbs, cover them, and remove them from the heat. Let this steep for 10 minutes. Cool to room temperature and then strain through fine mesh; use a spoon or spatula to move the solids around, but do not push the fruit. Store in a clean, airtight container in the refrigerator.
This will hold well for 6 to 12 months.
